Activision and Infinity Ward have released the a full-length trailer in order to promote the Xbox One-first release of the "Call of Duty: Ghosts" expansion "Onslaught." This will be the first of four DLC packs and comes complete with four new multiplayer maps, two new weapons and an addition to the new Extinction Mode.
The new trailer is rather lengthy, clocking in at 4:50. While it is meant to get people excited about the idea of playing more Call of Duty, it introduces and exciting, albeit dangerous, new concept - CODnapping.
The video depicts a narrator leading a team of highly specialized extraction experts, of course wearing trademark Ghosts ski masks form the game, to kidnap people from their boring lives and bring them to a warehouse where they can play as much "Call of Duty: Ghosts" as they want.
"It doesn't matter to these people that Call of Duty: Ghosts, Onslaught has arrived. They don't care about four new maps. An exquisite new weapon. Or the joy of shooting aliens in the f***ing face."
The idea is that people's girlfriends/boyfriends, family, job and other engagements do nothing but get in the way of people's Call of Duty playtime. In order to combat these life distractions, this team of "CODnappers" uses advanced techniques to take these people away from their mundane lives and give them a decent session of gaming. Once it's done, they return the men to their lives where they are greeted by their loved ones, who have no idea where they've been.
The video is likely meant as a Super Bowl ad, it obviously has the budget to work as one. Stephen Graham plays the British man leading the group of CODnappers.
The DLC comes out Jan. 28 and features a map called Fog, which lets you play as the iconic slasher movie villain Michael Meyers when you complete the field objectives. Joining Fog are BayView, Containment and Ignition. Two new weapons will be available as well as Episode 1: Nightfall, the first installment in Extinction Mode's four-part episodic narrative.
