Infinity Ward has been teasing its next "Call of Duty: Ghosts" DLC for some time now. The new content will be called "Onslaught" and it will be available for download on Jan. 28. Giving users just enough time to finish the campaign and prepare for the Onslaught (couldn't resist).
The information for the new DLC comes courtesy of Infinity Ward's Instagram account, with the video posted below and the accompanying caption, which reads: "Something menacing is coming Jan. 28. Get ready for the #Onslaught."
The music in the background of the video is the iconic theme from John Carpenter's famous film "Halloween." The Onslaught DLC will introduce a new enemy to Extinction mode in the form of spiders, according to IGN. A new map will also be called Nightfall. A user on Twitter named @SeriousSix2010 spotted a Gamestop store display that suggests other maps will be added called Fog, Containment, Bayview and Ignition. A bonus Maverick AR and Sniper Rifle are also said to be included.
Infinity Ward is planning to release four DLC packs from the game, the names of these have been revealed to be Onslaught, Devastation, Invasion and Nemesis. The keen observer will note that the first letters of each of these DLCs spell out ODIN, the name of the head of the Norse pantheon and a figure often associated with war. Those who have played "Call of Duty: Ghosts" will understand the significance of the ODIN moniker within the game's cannon.
Those who purchased the Season Pass will get Onslaught for free. Infinity ward has yet to confirm how much the pack will cost as a standalone purchase but it will be hitting Xbox platforms before any other (presumably on Jan. 28).
