Charlie Heaton, who rose to fame after playing Jonathan Bryers in "Stranger Things", could be seen as Cannonball in "New Mutants." The actor is said to be in talks with the producers to join the cast of the "X-Men" spin-off and so is Rosario Dawson, who is said to play a medical doctor in the superhero film.

"New Mutants" has been creating buzz ever since the movie was announced and now the excitement is going to get stronger as it is said that Fox Studio is looking to rope in "Stranger Things" fame Charlie Heaton. According to Variety, the actor is said to be in talks with the producers and if things fall in place, fans can see him playing Sam Guthrie, who is also known as Cannonball. This character is said to possess superpowers that make him shellproof in the air.

Notably, "New Mutants" is the first movie from the "X-Men" universe that will be arriving in theaters and thus, fans are pretty excited for the flick. Though the film will release next year in April, it will go on floors this year in July. The script is ready and director Josh Boone has said that they are trying to do something very different with the film.

In the meantime, it is said that Rosario Dawson is also in the same boat as Charlie Heaton as she is negotiating with the studio for a role, The Hollywood Reporter has learned. As for the role that Dawson would be playing, it is that of a mentor. She is said to be playing a doctor who has a special power to create a safe biofield around herself.

Well, if these two are confirmed, the "New Mutants" cast will undoubtedly get more interesting as it has already got Maisie Williams and Anya Taylor-Joy. The former is playing Illyana Rasputin who can travel with her teleportation discs while the latter will be seen essaying Rahne Sinclair, also known as Wolfsbane. It is worth mentioning here that "New Mutants" is the first film for Charlie Heaton after "Stranger Things" but he has already starred in "Shut In" and "As You Are."
