A shooter who opened fire at a Pennsylvania university's athletic facility hit and injured one male student, who was reportedly in critical, but stable condition early Tuesday morning.
According to a report from Reuters, police from the Chester area were still on the hunt for the gunman, who fired shots in a parking lot near the Schwartz Athletic Center at around 8:45 p.m. on Monday.
Widener University spokesperson Dan Hanson announced on Tuesday that the shooting was not random, and authorities believed the suspect had been targeted.
"All indications are that this was not a random act of violence," Hanson told the press. He also added that the shooter used a revolver in the incident, and that the victim called the police after he'd been shot.
The wounded student, whose identity has been withheld, was immediately transported to Crozer-Chester Medical Center for treatment, Reuters reported.
Police secured Widener University campus by Tuesday morning, with confirmation that no live shooter was on campus, but that the gunman still hadn't been found.
About 6,300 undergraduate and graduate students attend Widener University.
