Revenues for 2016 have already crossed $11.05 billion this Monday and will break the record $11.14 billion set in 2015. An industry leader projects that this 2016 revenues will reach $11.3 billion.

Growing Revenues

Through Monday, revenue has increased 2.3 percent compared with the same period of the last year. As you can see, the increase has not been huge but it has been able to break a new record for Hollywood.

Illumination and Universal's animated offering Sing has helped increase revenues too, coming in at No. 2. This production also helped box-office revenue surpass $11 billion and break a new record in the movie industry. The music-themed film is great and it got $56.1 million in revenues for the Friday-Monday stretch, thus, its six-day launch reached $76.7 million. The family title has been able to conquer the second place, it opened Wednesday.
