The libel case filed against Britney Spears by her former manager and confidante, Sam Lutfi is expected to recount the days of the pop star's public meltdown five years ago.

The trail is all set to begin next week in which Spear's former manager Lutfi claims he was vilified and unfairly blamed for the singer's meltdown in 2007.

He is also suing Spears and her family for millions of dollars over a book writer by her mother accusing him of  drugging and isolating the singer. In addition, Lutfi seeks to gain a good portion of Spear's wealth because he claims to be a key player in her 2007 album "Blackout."

Spears may not have to testify at the trial because she spent most of that time recovering from her meltdown under a court-ordered conservatorship. Her divorced parents, father Jamie Spears and mother Lynne Spears will testify during the trial, who along with her fiance, have a great amount of control over her personal life.

Lutfi sued Spears roughly a year after her hospitalization and conservatorship following her erratic behaviour in 2008 such as shaving her head with electric clippers, attacking her children's father Kevin Federline's car with an umbrella, speaking in a British accent and other bizarre actions.

Spears' family accused Lutfi, who was a constant presence around the singer during the period of her personal troubles, of drugging and isolating their daughter. The outcome of the case will have a great effect on the singer who is current enjoying a career resurgence for her new role as judge on "The X Factor."
