Soon after President-elect Donald Trump takes oath-of-office on Jan. 20, 2017 he will achieve something hopefully no one can take it away. He will become the richest American president in history with net worth in excess of $3.7 billion.

In a report published by Time during the Republican primaries, Donald Trump was worth between $2.9 billion as estimated by Bloomberg and $4 billion as estimated by Forbes. The same report also brought out some incredible statistics in regard to American presidents.

Prior to Donald Trump, former President Kennedy was the richest in with an estimated $1 billion adjusted for inflation in 2015. By the same yardstick the first president, George Washington, was worth $0.525 billion.

One more piece of information in the report that is very telling is the estimate that all the presidents before Trump combined together could muster only $2.6 billion. Just imagine, the 45th president will be richer than all the previous 44 presidents put together.

The latest net worth of President-elect Trump as of November 2016 reported by Foxbusiness quoting Forbes stands at $3.7billion. This is far lower than what Trump himself claimed about his net worth being pegged at $10 billion.

Whatever be Trump's image he is one rich man and he made his fortune in real estate. Donald Trump, the 70-year-old business magnate, earned his spurs in real estate development with his father. His entry into the Manhattan real estate business signaled the accumulation of a fortune from which he spread his wings across the globe.

He hosted a TV show called as 'The Apprentice," for which he is reported to have charged $3 million per episode, the show running for eleven years.

During his run up to the presidency, he promoted his businesses and added new ones such as furniture and fragrances. It is quite coincidental that Trump opened his latest hotel Trump International Hotel in Washington.

Trump's business acumen, especially in the real estate business arena, has drawn praise from all quarters.

When Trump becomes president in January 2017 he will become arguably the most powerful person on the planet, but according to Forbes he will only be the 477th richest person in 2016.
