Monday, Donald Trump opened up about the struggles he faced while becoming one of the richest men in America. During a public speaking engagement at a New Hampshire Town Hall, a voter asked Trump if he'd ever been told "no." Trump responded by giving the audience some insight into his past.

"Oh, many times," Trump stated in response to the question, "my whole life, really, has been a no. It has not been easy for me. I started off in Brooklyn. My father gave me a small loan of a million dollars. I came into Manhattan, and I had to pay him back, and I had to pay him back with interest. But I came into Manhattan and I started buying properties, and I did great."

Trump's father, Fred, was a self-made millionaire who built his fortune as a real estate mogul based out of Brooklyn and Queens with a net-worth in the hundreds of millions by the time he died, according to Today News.

Trump had advantages beyond the average American when he entered the workforce in the 1970s. The median household income when Trump's father loaned him $1 million was $25,000, according to CNN.

When Trump was pushed about his fathers patronage by host Matt Lauer, Trump responded: "You're right, but a million dollars isn't very much compared to what I've built."

There's no doubt that Trump had a leg up on the competiton when he increased his net worth to a staggering $8.4 billion, according to sources at Business Insider.

It's this silver spoon background that worries some voters about Trump's presidential credentials. When a college student asked Trump how he proposes to bring jobs back to America, Trump kept it simple, talking about "flexibility in deal making" rather than laying out a hardline plan to boost America's economy.

It appears a lack of exposition won't stop Trump from bringing his business savvy mind to the world of politics if elected: "All my life I was told no, even for this," Trump said, "People said 'No, no, no, don't do it, you are against professional politicians.' So far I'm not impressed, I will tell you that."

Trump recently made fun of Jeb Bush for having consulted his mother and father, former POTUS and FLOTUS George H.W. Bush and Barbara, about his presidential run, as previously reported by HNGN.
