The popular messaging service is finally using Graphics Interchange Format (GIF). WhatsApp is now on par with its close rivals iMessage and Facebook Messenger in terms of using soundless animated images during text conversations.

The days of utilizing GIFs are back. Figurative exchanges have been famously tapped during the early decades of the internet but saw a decline during the later years. With the social media becoming a fixture in everyday communications, the format is being revived. Top message providers like Facebook and Twitter find these graphics valuable.

Although WhatsApp has risen to be a favorite medium for many users, the application has had trouble instituting images in its platform conversation for iPhones. Recently, it has managed to integrate the GIF system into the iOS.

However, users who want to use the application need to download version 2.16.15 from the App Store.

If enthusiasts don't want to download the app, they can always go to the GIPHY domain where they can copy and paste animated pictures into their GIF messages. GIPHY is among the famous GIF search engines available.

Considering that the GIF platform has just been released, there is a need to orient enthusiasts on how the format works on WhatsApp.

The graphic interchange can be sent as a video if the length is under six seconds. To begin with, pushing the Plus button on the left part of the text box will allow individuals to choose photo or video library.

An option on the top part of the screen will allow users to send a record as a video or a GIF. Editing can be done on a file if it will be sent as a GIF.

Further, sending live photos can also be done on WhatsApp. Live pictures refer to animated images of the software but the step will only proceed if the device being used is 3D Touch-capable.

Within this function, users should select photo prior to choosing an item from the records. Before opting to select as GIF, the 3D Touch must be applied on the live picture.

It must be noted that iPhone 6 and 7 including their variations can utilize the GIF function.

Graphic formats cannot be saved on the iOS but the copy and paste approach will do the trick in allowing users to reuse a graphic image.

As of the moment, WhatsApp's graphic platform is not yet available for android units.
