With all the essential specifications available in a laptop, nothing much makes a distinctive difference especially when it comes to a spinning fan. The whirling sound is almost always a staple among users which is why getting a unit that produces no such noise should be a welcome experience.

Apple's new MacBook Pro offers a rather stingy price for the regular enthusiast and for good reason. With the same memory capacity at 8GB and a common SSD size at 256GB plus an equally similar Retina Display pixel density, the unit has the edge over the 12-inch Mac item due to a highly efficient Core i5.

However, the 12-inch computer may have the long run advantage against its 13-inch sibling due to the absence of a humming sound. Its fanless design is what makes it outstanding even against the MacBook Air.

In addition to the absence of a cooling fan, there are other features that make the 12-inch Mac item a wise choice. Primarily, it is a pound lighter that the 13-inch models. The regular weight figure is only a couple of pounds.

Secondly, the 12-inch is equipped with a thinner butterfly keyboard. The keys, when punched, have a certain crisp to it.

Third, the single USB-C slot keeps things simplified with the 12-inch compared to the Pro which has four ports whose dongle vary.

Fourth, although the MacBook Pro has the edge in terms of resolution at 720 pixels compared to the 12-inch's 480, the latter may have the lead in battery time usage over the former by probably an extra hour. Based on the CNET Labs' drain test, which utilized a video streaming procedure, the 12-inch has been able to survive for close to eleven hours.

Although the processor entirely changes the comparative assessment of the 12-inch and the Pro, it cannot be denied that performance lags also occur at some point. However, with the lighter unit, the occasional trouble is far more comforting since there is no whirling noise to tolerate at any given time.

With the 12-inch Mac's favorable specifications, the 13-inch Macbook Pro remains a step higher due to its ultraportable feature. The new and more powerful MacBook remains a better upgrade when it comes to efficient processing and graphics functionality.
