Nina Dobrev turned 25 Thursday, Jan. 9, and celebrated her birthday with best friend Julianne Hough and ex boyfriend Ian Somerhalder.
Julianne Hough took to her Instagram account to wish her best bud and Vampire Diaries star Nina Dobrev a very happy 25th birthday. The "Rock of Ages" actress posted a very cute picture of her hugging Dobrev and giving her a tight smooch on the cheek, while Dobrev seemed more than happy to be surrounded by loved ones on this special day.
"Happy Birthday my beautiful @ninadobrev you are kind, smart, adventurous, loving, honest, beautiful, mysterious, free, funny, and so on and so forth..... I am so lucky to call you my best friend!" she captioned the picture. "I love you so much... My sister! Happy birthday ya ol' fart!!! :) xoxo"
Dobrev's ex boyfriend Ian Somerhalder was also present for the celebrations. Vampire Diaries writer and executive producer Kevin Williamson shared a very cute picture of the brunette on twitter. The picture shows Dobrev holding the cake as Somerhalder and Hough both embrace her from behind. Somerhalder also wished Dobrev on the microblogging site.
"Happy Birthday @ninadobrev !!! The world loves you!" wrote the hunky actor, 35, on Twitter. "We all do;) Enjoy the moment, enjoy the day,enjoy the year!" he tweeted.
Somerhalder and Dobrev were real life lovers until May last year. The two split up but continue to remain good friends. The duo are also a reel-life couple in Vampire Diaries for which they won an award for "Best Onscreen Chemistry" at the 2014 People's Choice Awards held January 8, 2014.
Amidst rumors that the two may be reuniting soon, Somerhalder and Dobrev were bold enough to joke about their relationship on stage while receiving the award.
"We started dating on the show," Dobrev, 25, said. "We started dating in real life," added Somerhalder.
"Then we broke up in real life," the Canadian actress said. "And yet our characters are still dating on the show," joked Somerhalder, finishing her sentence.
When asked by a reporter at the Award event whether he and Dobrev have resumed dating each other, the actor refused to reply, instead giving the reporter his trademark sexy, lopsided smile.
Dobrev, on the other hand got tongues wagging when she made an appearance at the event hand-in-hand with a "mystery man," EntertainmentWise.com reported. The man has not been identified yet.
