Cop Photo Goes Viral: Brookline Officer Delivers Milk to Locked in Watertown Family

Over the course of the tragic events of the Boston Marathon bombings, many members of law enforcement and various citizens were praised for their Good Samaritan actions.

However one action, by a Brookline Police officer, has gone viral, according to CBS Boston.

During the manhunt for the younger of the two brothers suspected of causing the explosions, Dzhokhar Tsarnaev, residents in and near Watertown, Boston, were instructed to stay inside their homes.

A photograph of police officer carrying milk to a family with young children on April 21, has exploded onto the social media scene.

By the next day the photo had more than 60,000 shares on Facebook.

So far the picture of the officer—identified as Officer John Bradley according to Brookline Patch, has 17,664 likes on the social media website. It also has over 2,500 retweets on Twitter and almost 1,500 favorites.

One user commented on the photo, commending the officer for his act of kindness:

“As the daughter of a Massachusetts Police Lieutenant I can relate to the sincerity of this picture. People often forget that behind EVERY badge there is a mother, father, son, daughter, sister, brother....there is a family that holds their breath every time their loved one goes to work because there is always the chance that they will never come home again. I am sick and disgusted at the lack of respect for our law enforcement....the most disrespectful of all are the morons who would never have the guts to put on that uniform. God Bless all of our Law enforcement and the men and women that risk their lives EVERY DAY for all of us.”

Another use commented:” Our Police not only a policeman also a real human.”

The officer was originally identified as a member of the Boston Police Department, however he was later correctly identified as a member of the Brookline Police Department.

Even though the Tsarneav was taken into custody, the investigation into the events of April 15 continues. It is still unkonwn as to who took the photo.
