A family in Chicago accidentally received a Christmas gift from the Obamas that was originally meant for Sasha and Malia's godmother, USA TODAY reported.
The gift, which was a photo album, somehow ended up in a pile of presents sent to Alane Church from a relative that lives in New York.
"My husband started to unpack this box and realized it was in major disarray," Church said to NBC's Today Show. "The gifts were broken opened. Parts of the old box were in this box repackaged. In the bottom of the box was the extra gift, and we were reading the tag, trying to figure out, you know, where this came from and it was opened. We discovered this was a personal gift for Mama Kaye."
Mama Kaye is a nickname for Kaye Wilson, the godmother of President Obama's children and longtime friend of first lady Michelle Obama and her family. Her husband, Wellington Wilson, is nicknamed Papa Wellington, which explains the present's tag addressed to "Mama Kaye and Papa Wellington."
While speaking on the Today Show, Church allowed the cameras to see the cover of the album but declined to show the rest of the pictures inside.
"We are sort of wanting to keep it private for Mama Kaye. It's very special, very special. Private moments of their year 2013 together," Church said. She added she intends to send the gift to Wilson.
According to a report in The Huffington Post, the White House confirmed the accidental delivery but would not provide further comment on the matter.
