Parent Herald reported that the motion, filed last September 14 to the state of Wisconsin, sought to appeal the overturn of Brendan Dassey. His legal team argues that the 26-year-old Dassey has no bad record in his 10 years of service in prison and that the evidence obtained against him was obtained illegally. The legal team further argues that Dassey is no risk to the public, thus, must already be released.

The same report noted that Making a Murderer Season 2 will document Dassey's plan and eventually if the motion is approved, return to society. Dassey plans to live with his mother after his freedom is granted.

The motion reads, "Petitioner [will] spend the initial one to three months of his release on bond living in a family-owned trailer with his mother in rural northeast Wisconsin." 

After which, as Dassey's outlined plans per report of Parent Herald, he will eventually rent his own place which "would be initially paid by his mother and stepfather," until he finds a job. Likewise, he is expected to seek out therapy, education, and training as part of his assimilation to society.

In a report from iTech Post, Dassey's mother released a statement, saying "Actually he is very excited to get out there and he knows he doesn't belong in there. But I think he's scared a little bit of going into the outside world, it's changed big time. He's going to have to learn everything from scratch, but he's got us to help rehabilitate him, we're going to be there every step of the way."
