Rutgers Vs. Notre Dame Live Radio Broadcast: Pinstripe Bowl 2013 (LISTEN/WATCH)

A bowl win could help lessen the sting of an 8-4 season for Notre Dame. The Fighting Irish were able to string together a stretch of wins but ultimately lost two of its last three games. While the Pinstripe Bowl is no consolation for missing the BCS championship, it's still something to show for their season.

"Not good enough obviously," Notre Dame senior quarterback Tommy Rees said, via ESPN. "Proud of the guys and my teammates and how we fought all year but you don't come to Notre Dame to go 8-4, and everyone understands that. You have to be better."

Rees led the offense with 2,938 passing yards and 27 touchdowns. Running backs Cam McDaniel and George Atkinson III combined for more than 1,100 yards on the ground and six touchdowns.

A win at Yankee Stadium would give Notre Dame confidence heading into next season.

"We were privileged to play in New York City and Yankee Stadium in 2010," said Fighting Irish coach Brian Kelly. "The treatment our university received from the Steinbrenner family, the New York Yankees and the entire organization was unlike anything we've experienced in my tenure at Notre Dame."

Rutgers, meanwhile, finished the regular season with a 6-6 record after losing three of its last four games. Running back Paul James rushed for 833 yards and nine touchdowns; quarterback Gary Nova added 18 touchdowns through the air.
