A pet food recall has been put in place for Natura's dry dog, cat and ferret food over a possible salmonella risk to animals and people, the company said Friday in a statement.

The pet food recall includes all dry pet food and treats with an expiration date "prior to and including March 24, 2014". The outbreak can affect people directly if they handle their pet's food and don't wash their hands thoroughly.

"Out of an abundance of caution, we are extending our recall to include all Natura dry dog, cat and ferret food and treats that have expiration dates on or before March 24, 2014," the company said in a press release.

Here is a list of all the pet foods that have been recalled:

Signs to look out for if your pet is infected with a salmonella infection include lethargic behavior, diarrhea or bloody diarrhea, fever, and vomiting. Some pets will have only decreased appetite, fever and abdominal pain. Infected but otherwise healthy pets can be carriers and infect other animals or humans. If your pet has consumed the recalled product and has these symptoms, contact your veterinarian.
