With the Emmy Awards 2016 coming in a few days, it is looking more and more that it will be another "Game of Thrones"-dominated year.

The medieval fantasy is apparently neck and neck with fellow cable shows "Mr. Robot" and "The Americans" for the top award.

According to the predictions posted on Indie Wire, "Game of Thrones" is the frontrunner in at least three categories for the Emmy Awards 2016.

It has the biggest chance for victory in Best Actress in a Drama Series as Lena Headey, Emilia Clarke and Maisie Williams are all in the running, with critics pointing to Headey as the eventual winner.

If the result of the Creative Arts Emmy Awards 2016 is any indication, "Game of Thrones" is already the clear winner. The HBO show has taken home nine awards during the pre-Emmy Awards 2016 ceremony, the Independent UK reported.

That awards haul is one up from last year's Creative Emmy Awards tally.

It can be remembered that "Game of Thrones" was the big winner last year, breaking the record for the most awards taken by any show in a single year with its 12 trophies. If "Game of Thrones" triumphs in all five categories it is nominated in the Emmy Awards 2016, it will set another record for the most wins in one night.

Another Emmy Awards 2016 favorite "People vs O.J. Simpson" was also successful, garnering a total of four awards. This development bodes well for the limited series as it is now expected that it will make a sweep in its categories come Sunday night.

Awards pundits are especially excited for Sarah Paulson to win Best Actress in a Limited Series/TV Movie for her stellar portrayal of lawyer Marcia Clark on the show after years of being overlooked for her performance in multiple seasons of "American Horror Story."

"Making a Murderer," a Netflix documentary series sensation that became talk of the town earlier this year, also earned well, winning a total of four Emmy Awards 2016. Its victory punctuates just how highly anticipated the second season of the series is.

The Primetime Emmy Awards 2016 will be broadcasted live on ABC on Sunday, September 18, at 9 pm ET. HNGN will be posting more updates about the Emmy Awards 2016 as the countdown for the awards show ramps up.
