Authorities in western Pennsylvania are searching for a man who called a local Wal-Mart and threatened to shoot up the store over their return policy, SFGate.com reported.
Police officers from South Strabane Township and three other municipalities arrived at the store in Trinity Point shopping center, about 20 miles southwest of Pittsburgh, on Tuesday around 9 a.m.
The store remained opened throughout the day. Wal-Mart officials have not commented on the issue.
Officers are watching the parking lot and store's entrance, in addition to trying to trace the phone call, in order to find the man who placed the threatening call.
According to PIX 11 News, police confirmed that they spoke with a relative of the person of interest on Tuesday morning, though no further details have been released.
Apparently angry customers harassing Wal-Mart employees over the phone is a common problem across the country. In Wisconsin, the Woodhouse Day Spa received over 600 calls meant for the retail giant over a period of four days.
"We don't know what the issue is or how this is happening, but we've been trying to fix," said spa employee Alexa Wilkins. "Walmart overflow calls have been transferred to us."
After complaining about the issue, Walmart responded in a statement and said "We are sorry for any inconvenience, and we are looking into the matter."
