Mysterious Man on Roof: Social Media Explodes Asking Who Was The Spectator Alone on a Nearby Roof During the Bombings

There were many photos and videos of Monday’s blasts at the Boston Marathon. However, one particular photo has sparked the interest of an American public looking for answers.

A photo, taken by spectator Dan Lampariello, showed the second explosion going off as marathon participants and spectators were nearby. However, when a certain part of the photo was zoomed in on, there stood a man standing alone on a rooftop near the second bombing.

He was standing on the roof of the building, dressed in what appears to be dark colors, seems to be walking and unphased by the explosion. The image has sparked questions all over Twitter Monday evening, according to Yahoo! News.

One of the first Twitter accounts to mention the man on the roof was a parody account for the singer Frank Ocean. “Who’s that guy on the roof? #Boston Marathon #PrayForBoston,” the account read accompanied by a link to Lampariello’s photo.

As of Tuesday morning the tweet had over 2,200 retweets and over 600 favorites.

The words “Boston Marathon roof” began trending on Twitter.

Twitter user @anon15576 is a member of the Anonymous hacktivist group and tweeted, “#bostonmarathon bombing. #man on the roof. Anyone at all know #anything #fellow #anons plz tell me more about the man on the roof. #thanks."

Another Twitter user also questioned the mysterious man’s actions. “"Who's the guy on the roof? He’s not reacting to the detonation.”

Sources in law-enforcement say that a man from Saudi Arabia is under guard at a Boston hospital, according to CNN. The sources did not disclose where the man was being treated. One source says that the man is not in custody. There is no word on whether he had anything to do with the attacks.

According to CBS News, authorities also have video of someone bringing more than one backpack to the site of the bombings.

The explosions, which killed three people—inlcuding an eight-year old boy—and wounded over 170 people, is still under investigation. Authorities are also investigating a possibly connected explosion at John F. Kennedy Library in Boston.
