Explosion at Boston Marathon; 2 Dead and At Least 28 Injured

Two explosions have occurred near the end of the Boston Marathon finish line around 2:50 p.m., according to Boston-based news outlet WCVB.

The Boston police have recently confirmed two people are dead and at least 28 have been injured. At least four have been sent to Massachusetts General Hospital.

The finish line was located near Boylston Street.

Security has been heightened in New York as a precaution. Also anti-terrorist security has been already been deployed to the Boston.

According to the Boston Globe, Lenox Hotel, located only two tenths of a mile from Boylston Street, has been evacuated by authorities.

CNN reported about half of those running in the marathon finished the race before the explosion.

The race occurs during a holiday in Boston called, “Patriots Day” which may cause speculation about terrorist attacks.

There is no way to know who or what caused the explosion.

In a statement from vice president Joe Biden, offered his prayers for the injured. He did use the word “bombing” in a statement.

The cause of the bombing is unknown. President Barack Obama has been notified.
