Facebook brought its new interface, Facebook Home, to more Android users Friday, according to CNET.com.
The new HTC First is the first phone to run Facebook home and, according to analysts, does not do much else. The new software is now compatible with three Samsung phones-the Galaxy S3, the Galaxy S4 (which is set to release in, and the Galaxy Note 2-and three HTC phones-the One, One X, and One X+). In order to get the new interface Android users must update Facebook and Facebook Messenger apps to their latest versions.
The new software suite gives users a chance to make their phones a personal Facebook application. Android owners who download the new software will see popular Facebook features, such as their News Feed and chat functions, embedded into their phone's home screen.
"If we're all spending so much time on our phones, how do we make it easier?" Facebook CEO Mark Zuckerberg asked at the launch event on April 4. "Our phones are designed around apps, and not people. We want to flip it."
According to experts, the new app may only be ideal for those who use Facebook constantly, but not for those who like to use the whole host of apps on their Androids. For example, if someone likes to tweet, use Google+ or send an email all of the time, the new interface may become a nuisance.
The new software suite has its perks. The app lets you quickly slide into a Facebook chat, access your news feed, or call up your most recently used app. Facebook home functions on the Android 4.1 operating system. Also, if Android users feel that the new interface does not work for them, they can always disable it.
