Suspect in Texas Campus Stabbing Attack Was Planning the Attack for 'Some Time'

Texas officials are saying the man allegedly connected to the stabbings at Lone Star College Cy-Fair on Tuesday, fantasized about the attack since he was eight, according to the CNN.

The alleged attacker, 20-year-old Dylan Quick, has been charged with three counts of aggravated assault according to USA Today. A total of 14 people were injured during the attack.

The Harris County District Attorney’s office told CNN that Quick will undergo a psychiatric evaluation Wednesday. Authorities said he's been cooperative so far.

Harris County Sheriff Adrian Garcia said the assault occurred on two floors in Cy-Fair’s Health Science Center. At this point, it's difficult to tell who suffered injuries from stabbing and experienced other types of injuries.

Memorial Hermann-Texas Medical Center discharged three individuals Wednesday who were hurt during the attacks. According to hospital spokesperson Kathryn Kelin, two more individuals are still under care but are in good condition.

Quick has a long history with Lone Star College. At age 12, he joined a reading group to that met at the college library. He was born deaf so he needed a cochlear implant to hear. Quick was shy at first but was able to get past it.

According to CNN affiliate KPRC, he received the implant at age 7. This caused him to have to learn at a quicker pace to catch up on what he had not been able to learn in his earlier years.

After graduating high school he enrolled in the community college and, according to Lone Star College Cy-Fair President Audre Levy, library staff members “had fond things to say of him.” Quick worked for the library for approximately a year.

"So many are surprised that he was" the alleged attacker, she said.

According to authorities, Quick admitted that he had been planning the attack for “some time.”

He's expected to appear in court on Thursday.
