A robbery at a Southern California marijuana dispensary took a deadly turn when three masked men fired shots at the establishment's security guard.
The guard sustained critical injuries during what appeared to be an attempted robbery at Palmdale's Green Cactus Collective, according to the Los Angeles Times.
The shootout happened at the collective, located on the 3600 block of Sierra Highway, around 7 p.m., according to Los Angeles County Sheriff's Department Deputy John Cereoli.
Cereoli said by the time officers arrived at the scene, the suspects were gone and the security guard was wounded on the floor.
"They fled in an unknown direction, to an unknown location," Cereoli told the LA Times when speaking of the suspects.
The guard was reportedly shot a number of times, and was rushed to a nearby hospital for medical attention. Although his injuries were grave, officials anticipate that he will live.
Not much is known about the robbery at the collective. No arrests have been made, and no information concerning the suspects has been publicized, aside from the fact that the alleged assailants were three masked men, according to ABC 7's local station in California, KABC.
