Montana Woman Accused of Pushing Newlywed Husband Off Cliff Talked About Killing Mother, Stepfather, Prosecution Claims

A Montana newlywed who allegedly pushed her husband of eight days off a cliff at Glacier National Park reportedly talked about murdering her mother and stepfather a few weeks prior to her June wedding.

According to legal documents filed Tuesday obtained by the Daily Mail, 22-year-old Jordan Graham was said to be desperate and unhappy in her marriage with Cody Johnson, 25. She reportedly pushed her new husband off of a cliff during an argument on July 7, and recently testified in court that Johnson had grabbed her arm, leading her to reflexively shove him off of her.

She was charged last month with first and second-degree murder for the death of Johnson, which reportedly occurred while the two were on a camping trip at Glacier National Park.

Prosecutors on the case said they would show evidence in court next month that proved Graham had spoken about killing mother Lindel Rutledge and stepfather just around five weeks prior to Johnson's passing.

The prosecution also claimed that Graham had fabricated stories of physical abuse in past relationships, and the nature of the supposed lies were indicative of her mental stability.

The comments, lawyers said, would be used to "negate innocent intent and demonstrate the likelihood that the defendant did an act with the requisite intent in the charged case."

Graham said that her new husband "tried to grab my arm and my jacket" at the time of the argument that ultimately led to Johnson's demise. She said she wrangled him off of her in an act of self-defense, pulling him even as she pushed him.

Officials are still waiting on DNA results from a piece of cloth found near Johnson's body, to see whether the theory that Graham tied a blindfold around her husband before pushing him could be true.
