Anyone who grew up watching "Tom and Jerry" knows that there's no wrath as intense as the hatred between cat and mouse. However, Ranj, an orange tabby, and Peanut, a white rat, are proving this idea wrong. Though it's pretty clear that their love is a little one-sided, Ranj has an amazingly high tolerance for Peanut's scampering antics, reported the Dodo.

Maggie Szpot is the the pair's owner. She lives in Wisconsin and has a house full of animals. She'd had many pet rats as Ranj was growing up after being adopted into their home, but when she got two new rats, Peanut and Mocha, she was worried that Ranj might get aggressive with them. Luckily, the opposite happened. Peanut took a shining to Ranj immediately, and though Ranj was unsure about him at first, he eventually warmed up to the little friend, said the Animal Rescue Site.

"Peanut first met Ranj when [Peanut] was still a baby. I had brought Peanut and her sister out of their cage to play, and I put them in a fenced area for them to run around in, and Ranj actually jumped inside to get a closer look. He is always curious of new things... they quickly became good friends and Peanut followed Ranj around everywhere," said Szpot, according to the Dodo.

Watch the hilarious video below where Ranj is shown trying to evade Peanut's constant displays of affection. "Rat loves cat... cat tolerates rat. A really cute interspecies relationship :) My rat, Peanut, follows Ranj around everywhere! She gives him kisses and hugs," says Szpot, the animals' owner, in the video's description.
