Do you often find yourself hanging on to your date's every word because you love the way they talk? Does their accent completely draw you in? Cupid.com just released a new dating survey and the study finds that people are more attracted to someone who has a little Southern drawl.
The dating site surveyed 2,000 men and women and found that about 36.5 percent of those people prefer a lover who has a slight twang to their talk. According to the Daily Mail, most of them were men (45 percent) while only 28 percent of women want their men with a Southern accent.
The second most attractive accent was New York. 23 percent of women prefer the New York way of talking while only ten percent of guys find it attractive.
"Your date's accent may not seem like a vital detail - especially when meeting someone online - but your subconscious reaction when they speak could make or break a relationship," the site said. "It seems that when it comes to love, dates are looking for partners who conform to the gender stereotypes of softly spoken women and tough-talking men."
Besides Southern belles and New York natives, people also find Western, New England, New Jersey, Canadian, Midwestern and Mid-Atlantic accents attractive. There was another dating survey done recently by Brooke animal charity.
The charity found that one in ten women are more in love with their pet than their partner. According to The Telegraph, 10 percent of women confessed to loving their pet just a tad bit more than their partner. The study also found that four our ten women will seek their pet's attention if they are feeling ignored and over half of the 2,000 women surveyed said they also seek out the pet's attention after getting into an argument.
"It's easy to have a blissful relationship with a pet, which can't always be said of human relationships," the spokeswoman said. "Even the most perfect relationships have off days so you can understand how women might love their pets just that little bit more after a disagreement with their partner."
