Blackberry 10 Upgrades Twitter and Facebook Apps

Blackberry announced Thursday that its Blackberry Z10 Smartphone will now have the upgraded versions of Facebook and Twitter apps, simplifying access to social media sites.

Blackberry recently announced that it surpassed 100,000 apps with the addition of some 30,000 brand new ones. Blackberry said in its blog post Thursday that its existing Facebook and Twitter apps for the latest Z10 Smartphone got a boost with the introduction of the latest features for a new and seamleass experience.

The latest Facebook version 10.0.1 offers different options that make it easier for users to stay connected and share updates and photos instantly. Blackberry listed the new features added to its Facebook app:

- Friends Nearby: This will use the "Check In" feature to find nearby friends.

- Photo Updates: Offers option to tag buddies on the photos while uploading them and also save any picture from Facebook photos to the phone's gallery.

- Events: This new feature will simplify event tracking and respond and invite friends to events, post photos and tag guests, create and view posts on the wall.

- Sharing: This will allow users to share links from Facebook newsfeed to Blackberry's inbuilt and external apps including BBM (Blackberry Messenger), SMS, Twitter and others.

The Twitter app also witnessed a latest update to version 10.0.2. Twitter recently updated to 10.0.1, which featured new and easy options to compose tweet, edit profile, enhanced image viewing and others. The latest 10.0.2 version offers additional features including a modification to the Connect Tab, which will now display all new "followees, mentions and favorites" in one tab. It will further display summaries of news articles, photos and other updates in new tweets. Users can also see how many times a tweet has been added as a favorite too.

The updated versions of Facebook and Twitter can be downloaded directly from Blackberry World Storefront or if already installed, can be updated by selecting the update option for Facebook and Twitter in My World.
