One could make the case that Leonardo DiCaprio is among the finest working actors today. Last night he was awarded a Best Actor Golden Globe for his work in "The Revenant" and is sure to be battling it out with Eddie Redmayne for "The Danish Girl" at the Academy Awards next month. Despite never appearing in a Hollywood franchise or blockbuster sequel (no, we're not counting "Critters 3"), his films are always must-sees and do pretty well at the box office in spite of their weighty material. Basically, DiCaprio is awesome.

But would he be an awesome director?

DiCaprio addressed this last night when asked about his continued artistic plans. Though one would think the intelligent and talented DiCaprio would at least try his hand behind the camera, the actor himself says his professional experience will probably permit him from doing that.

"I've been so blessed to work with some great filmmakers, that I'm probably cursed to probable ever work as a director myself," he told Variety. "I don't think I would be able to compare to what I've seen. There are so many things that come into play when you make a movie. I really don't know how they do it."

DiCaprio does go on to say that he's relatively regretful for not paying closer attention to the laundry list of incredible directors he has worked with. That list includes: Baz Luhrman ("Romeo & Juliet," "The Great Gatsby"), James Cameron ("Titanic"), Danny Boyle ("The Beach"), Steven Spielberg ("Catch Me If You Can"), Sam Mendes ("Revolutionary Road"), Christopher Nolan ("Inception"), Clint Eastwood ("J. Edgar"), Quentin Tarantino ("Django Unchained"), Ridley Scott ("Body of Lies"), most recently Alejandro G. Inarritu ("The Revenant") and most famously Martin Scorsese ("The Wolf of Wall Street," "Shutter Island," "The Departed," "The Aviator," "Gangs of New York").

DiCaprio, 41, has worked with just about every single talented director in Hollywood. However, he says he's too preoccupied with trying to deliver a great performance to study the directors he's working with and how they approach filmmaking. Considering the guy has been nominated for five Academy Awards, we understand and don't hold it against him.

But we're still curious to see how a DiCaprio directed movie would turn out.
