'Dead Rising 3' Gameplay: Check Out Our Preview Including Weapon Combos, Nightmare Game Mode and Vehicle Upgrades (VIDEO)

"Dead Rising" has been a popular franchise for those who want to chop their way through crowds of zombies. The original trailer for the third installment in the zombie hack and slasher title made waves online and has gotten many excited for the official release on Nov. 22.

The new game boasts a vast open world full of zombies that is touted as being bigger than the previous two games' open worlds combined. According to IGN, it was originally theorized that the game's engine could handle the stress of such a vast open world. The latest round of optimizing has all but completely eliminated the issue. Capcom is targeting 1080p/30gps and at this point it makes "Dead Rising 3" hit its mark 90 percent of the time. The other ten percent usually involves craziness like "igniting and flattening hundreds of zombies at once with a steamroller-equipped, fire-spewing motorcycle."

That vehicle is reportedly one of about a dozen custom vehicles you can mash together in the new game. You can build a lot of vehicles and weapons in stages by combining three or more weapons and the results allow you to chop through hordes of the undead with surprising efficiency. The game also promises surprising creations like motorcycle engine-powered boxing gloves, computerized talking axes, katana blade claws and dragon heads that spew fire.

The game also has adopted a few RPG elements like leveling up and building out the main character Nick Ramos in surprising and different ways. As you earn PP and level up you gain attribute points, which can be spent on one of seven different stats or 22 different crafting categories. A lot of the options are hidden behind level walls only to be unlocked at certain milestones in the game. As IGN notes, a lot of the best ones are hidden behind the level 50 tag. However, once you hit that mark you'll be practically unstoppable.

Many people were upset with the time limit on "Dead Rising 2." The new game does away with that issue by giving you double the time to complete your missions and allows you to pause and save at any time. The new Nightmare mode dials up the urgency with tighter time limits and more difficult zombies as well as a return to the "bathroom save" system of the first two games.
