Adam Gase left Philadelphia without signing with the Eagles, a seeming sign that Jeffrey Lurie and Howie Roseman hadn't identified Gase, the up-and-coming quarterback whisperer, as their "guy." But then, a report emerged that Gase and the Eagles had already agreed to meet again in the not-too-distant future, presumably after Gase had had the opportunity to meet with a couple of other teams like the Browns and Dolphins.

Now, word has come from Reuben Frank of CSN Philly that there is no second meeting planned with Gase.

"NFL Network reported Wednesday that the Eagles were so impressed with Gase after his first interview that they had already scheduled a second interview with him," Frank wrote.

"But the source said no second interview has been planned yet with any candidate."

Of course, as Frank notes, that doesn't necessarily mean that the Eagles weren't "impressed" with Gase, as NFL.com's Ian Rapoport had reported, but it does seem to throw a little cold water on the notion of Gase being lead dog for the Eagles' top spot.

Looking ahead in the Philly search, reports have emerged that Kansas City Chiefs offensive coordinator and former Eagles quarterback Doug Pederson will interview with the team on Sunday, "win or lose," according to Jason La Canfora of CBS Sports.

Rapoport also indicated on Thursday that Cincinnati Bengals defensive coordinator Paul Guenther will interview at some point after the Browns, who are set to speak with him on Sunday. Tampa Bay Buccaneers offensive coordinator Dirk Koetter, supposedly a leading candidate for the recently-created vacancy there, is on the Eagles' list as well.

The team has already interviewed Gase and in-house candidates Duce Staley and Pat Shurmur. They're also said to be interested in New York Giants offensive coordinator Ben McAdoo and Detroit Lions defensive coordinator Teryl Austin.
