The Thunder, which registered a thrilling win over the Melbourne Stars in a previous game, are now looking to carry their winning streak in the fifth season of the BBL.

Test batsman Usman Khawaja, who joined the Australian national team in the second Test against the West Indies on Friday, made 109 off 70 balls to help his side post a strong total of 178 for six. The Stars were restricted at 177, according to ABC News. The Mike Hussey-led Sydney franchise began their campaign with a comfortable 26-run victory over the Sydney Sixers in the inaugural BBL match last week.

The Strikers, on the other hand, are also going strong in the tournament with two back-to-back wins. They registered a comfortable victory over reigning champion Perth Scorchers earlier this week.

"It's a tough place to come and beat them here, but I think our bowlers set the tone up front. We kept picking up wickets and kept them to a decent score to chase. It was a bit of a tough wicket up front with the new ball, but we just had to weather the storm for a little while and then it was sensible batting at the end. We got a good start and we had to make sure we kept the momentum," batsman Mahela Jayawardene said after the victory, according to The Guardian.
