Kim Kardashian appeared on Jay Leno's "The Tonight Show" on Wednesday night and confessed she was deeply affected by the media coverage of her gaining pregnancy weight.

The recently engaged reality star is the mother of baby girl North West. While she was carrying her baby, some media publications would make fun of her weight gain. Some even went as far to publish unflattering photos of her swollen feet she squeezed into a pair of heels.

"It really hurt my soul," Kardashian, who has reportedly dropped 50 pounds, told Leno.

The negative attention caused the reality star to stay out of the public eye. She told Leno she wasn't trying to go into hiding because of her weight gain, but rather shy away from the "hurtful" reports.

"I was gaining weight because I was pregnant, and it was just really hard to read all these stories and hear all these nasty things," she added. "Why would I subject myself to so much negativity, especially now that I have a daughter? I've definitely tried to live more of a private life because of that."

Kardashian, 33, also admitted the racy white bikini selfie she posted on her Instagram was her way of getting back at her haters. However, she ran it by her fiancé Kanye West before posting online.

"I was trying on a bathing suit, and I actually just sent that to my boyfriend, my fiancé, and I was like, 'Babe, can I post this up? This is my big, like, middle finger to the world on everyone that called me fat,'" she said.

Kardashian is not letting the negative press take away from the birth of her child, and says she is so happy to have baby North in her life. She hopes her daughter grows up to be like her father.

"She's the sweetest little girl. She never cries," she said, referring to baby North. "She's a perfect little angel. I hope she grows up to be smart and opinionated like her dad."

The reality star has also made a decision as to whether she will keep her famous last name.

"I'm probably going to have Kardashian as my middle name and then West," she told Jay. "My daughter has the last name West, and we're a family, so I want to definitely be West."
