Lenovo found their new product engineer in actor Ashton Kutcher. The contract signing on Tuesday also gained the PC maker an instant celebrity endorser.
Chief Marketing Officer David Roman said in a press release, "This partnership goes beyond traditional bounds by deeply integrating him into our organization as a product engineer. Ashton will help us break new ground by challenging assumptions, bringing new perspective and contributing his technical expertise to Yoga Tablet and other devices."
Christopher Ashton Kutcher is an actor, model and producer. He is popular for his roles in Hollywood films like Just Married, The Butterfly Effect, Dude Where's My Car?, The Guardian, and What Happens in Vegas. He also starred as Steve Jobs in the biographical film of Apple’s famous co-founder and chief executive. Currently, Kutcher is a mainstay in the sitcom Two and a Half Men.
The actor planned to major in biochemical engineering at the University of Iowa but later quit college to pursue modeling and acting. With a thriving Hollywood career, he also co-founded the investment company A-Grade Investments, which financed or partnered with Foursquare, Uber, Spotify, Airbnb, and Path among others.
With proven aptitude in making tech investments, he will soon provide Lenovo advice on software and design for Yoga tablets.
The partnership between the Chinese technology firm and Kutcher has not disclosed any details regarding the financial terms but it does seem a bit risky.
According to Kutcher, who also partnered with Apple and Google among others, "If you look at my career, what's constant is I like to take risks — so does Lenovo.”
Kutcher is looking forward to working with the PC maker and shared, "Lenovo is all about innovation and strong leadership. I hope to make their products as consumer friendly as possible.”
"It's somewhat of a dual role," Kutcher told USA Today before the live-streaming show where the Yoga Tablet release and his appointment were officially announced.
