Dallas Cowboys quarterback Kellen Moore has received some first-team snaps this week in practice, according to ESPN reporter Todd Archer. This is the first time Moore has gotten snaps with the first team, and many are wondering if the former Boise State quarterback will play this season.

Quarterback Matt Cassel will make his seventh start for Dallas this Saturday against the New York Jets, and the team will look to rally around him. The Cowboys only managed seven points against the Green Bay Packers last week, and Cassel went 13 for 29 passing for only 114 yards with an interception. Cassel has struggled since taking over for Tony Romo a second time and has thrown five touchdowns to six interceptions on the year. Cassel is 1-6 as a starter for the Cowboys, and many want to see Moore get a chance if Cassel continues to struggle.

Moore is in his fourth season in the league but has not seen a single snap in a regular season game. The former Boise State quarterback was incredible in college, throwing 142 touchdowns to 28 interceptions in four years with the Broncos. Moore's record in college was 50-3, and in his senior season he threw 43 touchdowns to just nine interceptions.

Moore has support around the Cowboys' locker room and could see some action if the Cowboys offense continues to be stagnant. "There's no bigger believer in Kellen Moore than myself," said offensive coordinator Scott Linehan, via the Star Telegram. "There's probably a few guys back in Boise and some back in Detroit that already know that. But I believe in him."

The Cowboys are focused on improving the total offense this upcoming week, as they feel the responsibility does not solely rest on Cassel's shoulders. It will be interesting to see what the Cowboys do during the final three game stretch of this season, but it wouldn't be shocking if they plug Moore in this season, as they are likely looking for a viable backup quarterback this offseason.
