Screenwriters Andrew Barrer and Gabriel Ferrari will team with Paul Rudd to pen the script for "Ant-Man And The Wasp," Deadline Hollywood reports.

This year's "Ant-Man" grossed $520 million worldwide against a $130 million budget, virtually guaranteeing a sequel. Direct Peyton Reed will return for the follow-up and Adam McKay, who helped with writing duties after original director Edgar Wright left the project, will also chip in along with Barrer, Ferrari and Rudd.

Barrer and Ferrari were uncredited for six months of script writing they did on the first film during production. The duo made their name with their first script, "Die In A Gunfight," which made the coveted Black list and was bought by MRC. Since then, the pair have sold a handful of scripts and were even part of the "Transformers" brain trust of writers that met recently to map out future stories.

"Ant-Man And The Wasp" is scheduled for a July 6, 2018 release.
