The Boise State Broncos visit the Brigham Young University (BYU) Cougars on Friday. Kickoff is at 8 p.m. ET. Listen to the live radio broadcast HERE or watch the live stream HERE.
Boise State (5-2, 3-1 MWC) quarterback Grant Hedrick makes his first start of the season after filling last week for the injured Joe Southwick, who broke his ankle on the first offensive snap of the game.
Hedrick started slow but eventually got the offense moving, KBOI2.com reports. The junior redshirt led the Broncos to a 34-17 comeback win over Nevada, completing 18 of 21 passes for 150 yards and one touchdown; he also showed his ability to run the ball and finished with 115 yards and two touchdowns on the ground.
Hedrick's ability to jump into the game and be productive didn't come as a surprise to his teammates.
"He's got one of the best work ethics on the team and his film preparation is one of the tops," Broncos receiver Matt Miller said, via KBOI2. "He's been waiting there in the shadow for four years, and when he had the opportunity ... to have that whole game to himself, he really played well."
Still, playing on the road poses its own unique challenges and BYU plans to use their home field to their advantage.
"He hasn't played on the road yet," BYU linebacker Kyle Van Noy said, via the Idaho Statesmen. "He's going to face a big crowd on national TV and we're a very good defense. We probably will give him some things he hasn't seen."
BYU is 5-2 on the season. The Cougars have a staunch front seven, and the team's offense can hold its weight behind quarterback Taysom Hill.
Hill has completed 119 of 235 passes for 1,680 yards and nine touchdowns; he's rushed for 772 yards and seven touchdowns.
