Retired New York City DJ Dave Herman was arrested for allegedly planning on having sex with a 7-year-old girl. According to The New York Post, the WNEW-FM radio DJ and "Rock and Roll Morning Show" host was arrested Thursday (Oct. 24) when he flew from La Guardia to St. Croix to meet the little girl and her mom.
Instead Herman, 77, was met by Homeland Security special agents and Immigration and Customs Enforcement. Police claim the DJ had set up a meeting with the mom and child after talking to them online. He wanted to arrange the transport of a young child from New York to his Virgin Islands vacation home "to give alcohol and engage in sexual acts wither her," The Post reports.
Herman thought he was chatting with "Kris," the girl's mother online but was really talking to undercover police. "Lexi," the girl he wanted to meet was fictional. Authorities said he used the handle "dave121482" and allegedly told "Kris" that he lusted after young girls.
"At age 6 is the perfect time to start her being loved that way," authorities claim Herman wrote. "I find girls that age incredibly sexy, soft and their innocence is also a huge turn on for me."
"Herman promised he would not hurt 'Lexi' though he might be 'forceful' with her," a complaint written by Homeland Security Special Agent Mark Lubischer read. "Herman suggested that they could give 'Lexi' some alcohol to relax her."
Lubischer also alleged that the radio DJ called "Kris" and told her all the sexual things he wanted to do with the little girl.
Herman will appear in court in the Virgin Islands on Oct. 25. He was charged "with interstate transport of a minor for sex" and if convicted he could get 10 years to life in prison and fine up to $250,000.
