In what can only be considered good news for the NHL as a whole, Edmonton Oilers star forward Connor McDavid met with media members on Monday and updated his progress as he attempts to return from a clavicle injury suffered earlier this season during a game against the Philadelphia Flyers, and by nearly all accounts, looked "great."

McDavid also seemed optimistic about the entire ordeal, noting that it could have easily been much worse.

"The good news is it was only a bone and not a torn labrum or separated shoulder," McDavid said, via TSN's Frank Seravalli.

As Marty Klinkenberg of The Globe and Mail noted, it's been just 11 days since the original injury and 10 since McDavid went under the knife. And yet, Klinkenberg and others noted that McDavid looks "great," and met with them without a sling.

McDavid, who has already begun some light training, including upper body work along with riding a stationary bike, seemed to be in "good spirits," according to Sammi Silber of Oil On Whyte.

McDavid said that he feels "better than he thought he would at this point," per Silber.

"I was upset, but things happen. It's a fast game. People are going to get hurt," he said, per Klinkenberg.

McDavid, 18, entered the NHL this past spring as one of the sport's most heralded prospects in a long time. Through 13 games with the Oilers prior to his injury, McDavid had scored five goals and added seven assists.
