TCU quarterback Trevone Boykin has a chance to be an NFL quarterback and was compared to Browns quarterback Johnny Manziel by one NFC scout, according to NFL Draft Analyst Lance Zierlein.

Boykin is having a huge year for the Horned Frogs - he has them off to an 8-0 start, and has thrown for more than 2,900 yards, 28 touchdowns and only has five interceptions. The senior quarterback can run with the ball too, and has 524 yards rushing this season with six touchdowns. Boykin is looking to lead the Horned Frogs to the College Football Playoff this season, after being held out with only one loss last season.

Scouts have said that Boykin will likely need to make a transition to wide receiver to make it as the next level, but at least one NFL scout thinks he can make it as a quarterback. Drawing comparisons to Johnny Manziel may not be what a quarterback wants to hear, but at least there are people that see him playing the position.

Manziel has played in a total of 10 games since entering the NFL, and has thrown four touchdowns to three interceptions. While Manziel was able to get around the edge in college, he has struggled to get away from NFL defensive lineman. Manziel made his second start of the season against the Cincinnati Bengals Thursday night. The Browns quarterback struggled, throwing for only 168 yards and a touchdown. Following the loss to Cincinnati, Browns head coach Mike Pettine wouldn't commit on Manziel as the future starter.

While Manziel hasn't had much success, as a quarterback in the league the fact that he is given opportunities is a good sign for Boykin. The TCU quarterback has continued to stay in the Heisman conversation all season, and is gaining ground on LSU running back Leonard Fournette, according to Matt Murschel of the Orlando Sentinel.

Boykin will probably have to make position change at the next level, but if just one team thinks he could make it as a quarterback, it may draft him in the later rounds. It will be interesting to see what happens with Boykin's future, but NFL scouts will likely be watching him on Saturday as he faces an undefeated Oklahoma State team.
