The Blacklist: NBC Orders Full 22-Episode Season; Which Other Rookie Was Renewed?

TV lovers are going to get a little bit more time to get acquainted with Raymond Reddington (James Spader). NBC has ordered a full 22-episode season of “The Blacklist”, according to Deadline.

“The many layers of Red Reddington and his mysterious reasons for getting into bed with the FBI seem to be fascinating to fans of this show,” said President of NBC Entertainment Jennifer Salke.

“The Blacklist” has come out to a strong start with 12.6 viewers in its series premiere and a little over 12 million viewers for its second episode. This makes the most watched new drama this fall. They’ve also averaged a 3.6 rating in the 18-49 demographic.

“With great talent like James Spader and Megan Boone on board, as well our stellar executive producers and the whole cast and crew,” Salked said according to TVLine.com, “we believe this outstanding series will continue to make NBC a big destination on Monday nights.

“The Blacklist” is not the only rookie that’s gotten an extension. Deadline also reports that “Sleepy Hollow”, which airs on Monday nights as well but on FOX, has already been renewed for a second season after just three episodes.

According to TVGuide.com, the FOX drama—which stars Tom Mison as Ichabod Crane and Nicole Beharie as police lieutenant Abbie Mills—had 13.6 million viewers in its series premiere on Sept. 16.

Season’s 1 and 2 of “Sleepy Hollow” will both last 13 episodes and finish midseason.

"The show has proven to be a risk well worth taking — it's a conceptual blast unlike anything else on television and it all holds together with inventive writing and a fantastic cast," Chairman of Entertainment for the Fox Broadcasting Company Kevin Reilly said in a statement, according to TV Guide. "I can't wait for fans to experience what else is in store for this fall and even more of this wild ride into Season Two."
