On last season on HBO's hit show "Game of Thrones," war leader Daenerys Targaryen had just freed the slave city Yunkai, a full Unsullied army at her command. New behind-the-scenes photos of Emilia Clarke, the actress who plays the brave Khaleesi, have hit the internet, along with set photos of her massive army filming in Croatia, the Daily Mail reports.

Dozens of crew members helped mark placers for actors and extras to stand in Zrnovnica, Croatia yesterday in a wide and dramatic sandy landscape flanked by massive rocks for what looks to be an epic fight scene. Crew members brushed out the footprints left in the sand while the cameras and cranes were readied, extras attempting to stay cool in the heat with umbrellas and in the shade of temporary tents set up on set.

In the "Game of Thrones" universe, Unsullied soldiers begin their intense training at the age of five, subjected to torture and complete domination from their masters to make them immune to pain and death. Although they are technically freed men under Daenerys' command, the Unsullied are still a highly trained and dangerous army that the Mother of Dragons plans to use in her quest to take back the Iron Throne.

Speaking of the Mother of Dragons, Emmy nominee Emilia Clarke was photographed in her full Daenerys costume, including her incredible platinum blonde wig, at the cellars of Diocletian's Palace in Split, Croatia today during the 72nd day of filming for the highly anticipated fourth season.

At this year's Emmy Awards, Clarke wore a much more modern outfit, stunning in a floor-length silk white dress with a silver belt and folded geometric leaves. The actress joined "Breaking Bad" actor Dean Norris onstage to present and later received her own official nomination for "Best Supporting Actress."

"For me, the nomination is literally the end of the line," Clarke said to Entertainment Weekly this summer. "It's amazing. I'm so, so, so happy. I owe absolutely everything to HBO. I'm just happy that the show itself got recognized. It's just wonderful."

The show's production will not be returning to Morocco for the rest of Daenerys' storyline this season, so desert scenes will likely be shot in Croatia, the same country where King's Landing scenes are filmed. Other locations include Northern Ireland, Belfast, and Mdina in Malta. The fourth season will cover the second half of George R. R. Martin's book, "A Storm of Swords," while season 5 is set to cover at least the first half of "A Feast for Crows."
