New Buffalo Bills head coach Rex Ryan may have traded for running back LeSean McCoy this offseason, shipping promising young linebacker Kiko Alonso to Chip Kelly and the Eagles in exchange for the shifty Shady, but McCoy's been nothing like the high-impact star Bills fans and fantasy football owners were hoping for when the deal to acquire him from Philly was announced this offseason. Instead, McCoy dealt with a hamstring injury that limited him during the preseason and the early portion of the year and now, three weeks into the 2015 NFL season, it could be that rookie ballcarrier Karlos Williams is set for a bigger role in the Bills backfield.

"He's much better than I thought he'd be," an AFC area scout said recently, per Ross Jones of Fox Sports. "He wasn't showcased that much during his time at Florida State and was a backup. He's playing much better at this level than he did in college. He's a great fit for their offense because of his downhill style. I wouldn't be surprised to see him split carries with LeSean (McCoy) moving forward."

With McCoy reportedly set to sit out the Bills' game against the in-state rival New York Giants this weekend, Williams' starring role in the Buffalo backfield is likely set to begin sooner than anyone expected. Considering he's averaging 7.8 yards per rush at the moment - albeit on only 24 carries this season - it could mean big things for Williams and fantasy owners.

And considering his style - bruising, downhill - Williams could prove a better fit for Ryan and coordinator Greg Roman's offense than McCoy going forward this season, making him an important pickup for McCoy owners.
