The Brooklyn Nets are coming into the 2015-16 NBA season with little to no expectations for the first time in a while. A lot of people don't expect the Nets to be a playoff team this year which would be the first time since moving to Brooklyn but one player who can change all of that is Brook Lopez. Lopez is coming off a dominant second half for the Nets and this offseason has reportedly been working on his three point shot, according to Mike Mazzeo of ESPN.

Lopez is a big, strong seven footer so it might sound weird that he is working on his three point shot but Lopez isn't your typical seven foot center. Lopez does most of his work with floaters and mid-range jump shots and is actually very effective from just inside the arc so it makes some sense for him to extend his range a little bit further.

Nets head coach Lionel Hollins wanted to make Lopez into more of a low post scorer last season when he first became the head coach but he quickly realized that's not exactly Lopez' game. Not to say that Lopez can't score in the low post but he is more unorthodox and isn't at his best with his back to the basket. Hollins seems to be embracing the fact that Lopez might shoot some more threes this season.

"He's been working on them, so it may be sometimes we might let him be out there. If he's making them, sure." said Hollins when asked about Lopez potentially shooting threes this year.

For his career Lopez has only attempted 17 three pointers and of those 17 he has only made one so it's not like he is going to come out and start shooting like Dirk Nowitzki but as mentioned before he does have a nice stroke from deep two-point range. Adding a three point shot to his game would make Lopez even harder to guard than he already is and he is already one of the best offensive centers in the league.

Lopez has career averages of 17.9 points, 7.3 rebounds and 1.7 blocks per game while shooting 51 percent from the field. The Nets don't have many people that think they will be good this year but if Lopez gets back to All-Star form they certainly have a chance to surprise some people and maybe sneak into the Eastern Conference playoffs.
