Mindy McCready died at the age of 37 after fatally shooting first her dog and then herself at home in Heber Springs, Arkansas on Sunday.
McCready committed suicide by shooting herself in her home in Heber Springs, Arkansas on Sunday. Her body was found in her home porch in exactly the same spot her boyfriend was found dead last month. McCready first shot her dog before taking her own life
According to reports by TMZ, McCready was not in the best of spirits and was struggling to cope with the death of her live-in boyfriend David Wilson who died of a gunshot wound in January. The police are still investigating whether the death was a suicide or murder. According to an interview McCready gave after her boyfriend's death, the dog she shot had found the bullet that took Wilson's life.
"I didn't find the bullet, the dog did. It was in the dog's mouth. I mean, that's a horrific things to say, but it was in the dog's mouth," she had said.
During the investigation, McCready maintained that she had no role to play in Wilson's death calling him her soul-mate.
Earlier this month, E! News reported that McCready's father, Tim, was concerned over her health and filed a petition to move the country singer to a treatment facility to undergo mental health evaluation.
"Since boyfriend (David Wilson) shot himself she has been in bed for 3 wks," Tim wrote in a petition he filed. "Sleeps all day. Drinks all night and is taking Rx drugs. Not bathing or even helping take care of her 2 children."
McCready's two children Zander and Zayn have been placed in foster care and were not with McCready when she took her life.
