Pan Pan, the world's oldest male panda, recently celebrated his 30th birthday in Chengdu, which is located in the southwestern part of China, People's Daily Online reported.

Pan Pan's age is equivalent of 100 in human years. The China Giant Panda Protection and Research Centre staff threw a birthday party for the popular panda and gave him a three-tier ice cake covered with carrots.

The panda, who was born in the wild and brought up at the research center, was also visited by fans from around the world and all of them serenaded him with a happy birthday, the Daily Mail UK reported.

Pan Pan is known by many as a "hero dad," having fathered a total of 130 cubs in the 30 years of his existence.

One of his grandchildren even "wished" him a happy birthday on Twitter.

Despite being the oldest male, Pan Pan is not the oldest panda in the world as the title belongs to a female panda named Jia Jia from Hong Kong. She turned 37 this year, HNGN previously reported.
