Justin Timberlake speaks to Rolling Stone magazine about how acting shaped his new album, his love for music and timeless music.
Justin Timberlake marks somewhat of a comeback with his new album "The 20/20 Experience." The singer says this new album is the best he's done so far in his musical career. In a recent interview with Rolling Stone magazine, the actor says that though he's making music all the time, he keeps most of it to himself.
He says he's not the kind to release 10 to 15 albums in a year. Only when he needs to express himself does he release an album because music is very special to him. Timberlake also says that his studio is one of the few places he can be totally free.
His new album contains 10 songs and each song is an average of seven to eight minutes long. According to the singer, Stevie Wonder's "Superstition" is a timeless piece of music and would still be as fresh as it was when it was first released if it were to be released again today. Timberlake, who also took up acting while not making music says that acting has changed him a bit and has given him a "slightly different approach to storytelling."
Timberlake also says that his parents have contributed the most in making him what he is today.
"They're just two great people. My mom said two things to me that I'll always remember. One of them was if you put out a hundred and 15 percent, if you go past whatever you think is a hundred percent, that you can expect a good outcome," he said. "And when I was younger, I always sang - I've always been into music - and she goes, 'I want you to know that I think you have an extraordinary gift, but it's a gift; it was given to you.'"
