Manchester United RUMORS: David de Gea Signing New Contract?

In a shocking turn of events, David De Gea is close to signing a new deal with Manchester United, according to the Daily Mail. After talks of de Gea was signing with Real Madrid in January, the goalkeeper appears to be staying at United.

The de Gea saga continues to get better with each passing week. Two weeks ago, he was headed to Real Madrid. Last week, the paperwork did not go through, but he still planned to sign in January with Madrid. Now, de Gea is working out a new contract with United. Is anyone else confused yet?

De Gea's agent, Jorge Mendes, confirmed that new contract talks have started and are going well, according to Bleacher Report. If a new deal is struck between the two parties, it opens the door for United to be a solid contender for a Premier League title and possibly UEFA Champions League title.

Madrid does want de Gea to come back to Spain in the near future, however, if de Gea signs a new deal, that places Manchester at a significant advantage. Real might be forced to sacrifice a massive amount of money or even a top player or two (Ronaldo to United anyone?).

However, no official contract has been signed by de Gea. The details are being reported at an estimated £4 million a year. Not a bad deal for the 24-year-old keeper.

Stay attentive on this one folks. For all we know, de Gea could find his way to MLS next week.
