PepsiCo developed a new breakfast drink - Mountain Dew Kickstart which is a caffeinated drink and an alternative for people who don't like coffee or tea.
Not everybody likes to start their day with a cup of coffee or tea. Hence, to cater to such people, PepsiCo has come up with their own caffeinated breakfast drink named "Kickstart." The drink has a Mountain dew flavor with 5 percent juice and Vitamins B and C and a bit of caffeine.
The drink will not be available in the market till end February. However, the company clarified that the drink cannot be considered an energy drink. Since Mountain Dew is already known for its caffeine content, it comes as no surprise that it has entered the breakfast drink market.
"For a long time before energy drinks, there was Mountain Dew," Jeff Klineman, editor of the BevNet online and print trade publications said. "It was the official drink of gamers and truckers before Monster and Rockstar came along."
Company officials confirm that the drink has far lesser caffeine and other mysterious ingredients that have raised concerns in drinks like Red Bull and Monster
Mountain Dew spokesperson Elisa Baker said the company did extensive research into the matter.
"Our consumers told us they were looking for an alternative to traditional morning beverages," she said. "Kickstart combines the best of all worlds -- it tastes great, has just the right amount of real fruit juice and gives them a kick to help them start their day."
The drink will be available in two flavors - Orange Citrus and Fruit Punch.
