12-year-old Boy Creates own Facebook for Kids Called Grom Social

12-year-old Zach Marks takes on social networking as he creates his own "Facebook" for kids and calls it "Grom Social."

Since kids are not allowed on Facebook, 12-year-old Zach Marks decided that he would create a "Facebook" for kids and has succeeded in doing so. Zach has named his social networking site "Grom Social" and experts predict that it may as well become the Future Facebook.

Zach tried joining Facebook when he was 11 years old but was denied permission as the minimum age to sign up on the site is 13 years. Nevertheless, Zach succeeded in creating a profile for himself and added 680 members to his friends' list.

However, the minor soon got bored as he found the site contained a lot of inappropriate content. After friend's of the family found Zach's profile and reported it to his parents, Zach was told to create his own social networking site if he wanted to join one. And that's exactly what he did.

The word "Grom", is Australian slang for a young person who wants to learn. Signing up for a profile on Grom Social come with a set of rules. Firstly all kids can sign up only with their parents. Similarly, no adult can have an account on the site without a kid. Secondly no member is allowed to curse or post inappropriate content on the website.

Zach told CBS News that he received a lot of help to build the site from his father's friend. However, the concept and all the ideas for the site were his and his siblings. On being asked if Zach would like to re-join Facebook when he's of appropriate age, the young inventor replied that he's not sure about the future but right now he's having a blast on his own social networking site.
