Our favorite crime-fighting speedster has been cast.

23-year old Grant Gustin, known for his role as Sebastian Smythe on FOX’s Glee, will play the role of Barry Allen a.k.a. The Flash, according to TVGuide.com.

The website reports that Barry works as an assistant police forensic investigator who becomes interested in a string of robberies in Starling City. The robberies are connected to his past. The young Mr. Allen is a huge fan of comic books and the vigilante that is Arrow. However he has no idea what he’s getting himself into when he begins to work with Felicity (Emily Bett Rickards) and Oliver (Stephen Amell).

Gustin will appear in three episodes. The first two—Episodes 8 and 9—will most likely deal with the aforementioned work he does with Oliver and Felicity. When he appears in episode 20 it will be for the backdoor pilot to the much-discussed possible spin-off. (For you CW fans who are not sure what this is, the network did the same thing with “The Vampire Diaries” and “The Originals” with Season 4 Episode 20 of TVD. The episode was also titled "The Originals.")

The three episodes will be written by executive producers Andrew Kreisberg and Greg Berlanti who will be joined by DC Comics Chief Officer Geoff Johns, according to TVLine.com.

TVLine also reports that originally a blonde actor had been wanted. However, said Johns, it was more important that the actor “look good in red.”

This is not Gustin’s first CW stint. He played the role of Campbell Price in the final season of “90210.”

Season 2 of “Arrow” premieres Wednesday Oct. 9 on The CW.
